Fruit Dip.
My humans LOVE this dip it's the bee's knees. I do a lot of pinteresting to find recipes that my humans will like. In general, the humans that come to me are not used to homemade food from real ingredients. They are used to processed, premade, frozen dinners. And this, by the way, is an epidemic that our world is failing at. EVERY FAMILY SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO GOOD, HEALTHY FOOD!! With that being said, sometimes it takes a while to find something that they like.
Don't get me wrong, some nights we eat frozen pizza, mac n cheese, chips & dip. It's impossible to make homemade meals all the time at least for me as a single parent with (in current state) 3 humans and working full time so sometimes we (I) need easy.
But, when we have a sit down homemade meal we always have fresh fruit and a little dollop of fruit dip. The original recipe calls for original greek yogurt. I changed it up a bit to give more of a sweet than bitter taste by using vanilla greek yogurt. You have to use greek yogurt, other yogurt makes the dip runny. Who wants runny dip, yuck.
Start with the ingredients: cream cheese, confectioners sugar, almond extract and yogurt. It is easiest to use a mixer to get the ingredients nice and creamy, if you don't have one (or a hand mixer) let the cream cheese come to room temperature before you start mixing.
I always double this recipe because between the 4 of us, we go through a that much in a week. I smooth the cream cheese first using my Kitchenaid mixer and the paddle attachment. I like this one, be sure you find the right size for your mixer on Amazon: Edge Beater. Just when the cream cheese starts to smooth, add the yogurt. In general I don't measure much, but use at least 2 cups of the Greek Vanilla Yogurt, I prefer Chobani. When the cream cheese and yogurt are starting to combine I add around 4 tablespoons of Confectioner sugar. If you want your dip sweeter use more, if not, use a little less. Then I add two caps of Almond Extract. Again, I don't really measure but that seems to taste about right. The dip will start to form little balls/bumps, make sure you keep mixing it until it's nice and smooth.
When you are done, you will have a beautiful, creamy fruit dip that everyone will love! Now, make a yummy fruit bowl to accompany your dip and you and your family or guests will be in heaven.
